Question 68 // How’d You Start Selling Human Skulls? (feat. Scott Watzlawick)

Q68 LP.jpg

Scott Watzlawick is the owner of an oddities shop in Appleton, Wisconsin called “Forty Three Skulls”. I was in town for a music festival called ‘Mile Of Music’ and was walking around town with Nate Babbs and André Rodriguez (close friends who happen to be curious people and past guests) when we stumbled on FTS’ pop-up-shop. One convo with Scott’s daughter, Kayla, and I knew this wasn’t your ordinary oddities shop.

Why does Scott consider himself a teacher and an artist? How’d he get into this buisiness? What does the industry and process of collecting, cleaning and selling bones look like? And what can I learn from Scott and his skulls about the importance of looking past the exterior of people we meet on a daily basis?

Join me as I sit down with Scott over iced coffee as he answers these questions and more for a conversation that ended up bringing me to tears.
