Reframing Energy (On Approaching Auditions)

For years, I had no idea what my true job was as a musician. Whether it was an audition, or a rehearsal at a gig I already landed, I approached it all the same… try and figure out what the artist liked, and do whatever I could to impress them. That’s how you keep getting work, no?
